Your pension plan is a defined contribution (DC) pension plan whose primary purpose is to provide retirement benefits to union members and other participants on their retirement. As well, the Plan provides benefits on the termination of Plan membership or the death of a member prior to retirement.
The employer contributions to the Pension Plan are calculated based on the hours you worked. The rate is stipulated in the Collective Agreement for the period the contribution is made.
Your account is credited with investment earnings (losses) at rates determined by the Trustees at the end of each year, based on the actual net rates earned or lost by the Pension Fund as reported in the audited financial statements.
Find the form you are looking for in the list provided here and follow the instructions on each to submit them. You can submit your forms via email or fax, but they must have a wet (ink) signature to be processed. Electronic or digital signatures are not accepted at this time.
Book an appointment online or in-person (Ottawa office only) with a Pension Analyst for information about your pension benefit and assistance completing your pension application.
We will be adding pension plan forms in the coming days. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Participation in the pension fund is automatic if you work under the I.C.I. (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional sector) or Residential collective agreements, but you must complete the Registration Form to complete the registration process.
In June of every year, the pension fund provides an annual statement to members advising if they are eligible to receive a pension and the value of their accounts at December 31st of the previous year.
You can find the amount of pension you have earned to date on the annual pension statement mailed to you in June of every year.
Soon you will be able to view your pension account balance through the Member Portal, which will be available in 2024.
